Hello everyone!
Thank you for reading about me. I am a Data Scientist with a background in Geosciences. I spent over 8 years working in the oil/gas industry as a Geophysicist until 2020, after which I made a slight detour from my career to the world of Data Science. I would say, my journey to the world of data and analytics was not too much of a surprise because as a Geophysicist I was familiar to some of the common techniques from Data Science. As matter of fact, a lot statistical concept of optimization, regression, moving averages etc... were part of my day to day task. While Geophysics dealt mostly with the Seismic data (hence a lot of Signal Processing stuffs...), but building Earth Model was a major part of the process. Coincidently, Earth Modeling involved many approaches such as Tomography and Full Waveform Inversion, which are based on Linear Inverse Theory and used similar method of optimization using the Least Squares and so on. Therefore it was very natural for me to get attracted to Data Science. In my earlier Data Science exploration, I took a bunch of Deep Learning trainings from deeplearning.ai and applied the concept in some geophysical problem, for example, geological fault identification from seismic data, noise identification on seismic images etc.
Currently, I am a full-time Data Science consultant at Slalom with recent experience on NLP, MLops and analysis of Salesforce data. I love reading and writing scientific paper and I have strived to maintain these habits regardless of being busy at operation where there is less research but more production type of work. I have found medium to be very effective not only to save my work but also to share the experiences with the wider world. I really appreciate your time reading my articles. I hope they are helpful to you in some manner.
